WaterBit App Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Mobile Kinetics, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with your use of the WaterBit mobile application ("WaterBit" or the "App").
1. Introduction to WaterBit
WaterBit is a health and fitness application designed to help you track your daily water intake. It allows you to log the amount of water you consume, view your historical data, and monitor your progress towards your hydration goals. WaterBit offers a freemium model, with a one-time in-app purchase to unlock "Pro" features.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information when you use WaterBit:
- Health and Fitness Data:
- Water Intake Information: This includes the amount of water you log (in ounces) and the date and time of each entry.
- HealthKit Integration: With your explicit permission, WaterBit integrates with Apple's HealthKit framework to read and/or write your water intake data to and from the Apple Health app. This allows you to centralize your health data and ensure consistency across health-related applications. We do not use HealthKit data for marketing, advertising, or sell it to data brokers.
- Identifiers:
- Internal Application Identifiers: We generate and store unique identifiers (UUIDs) for each water intake entry you make within the App to differentiate and manage your logged data.
- User and Device Identifiers: We may generate a persistent, pseudonymous identifier for your app installation or device to recognize your device across sessions, enable data synchronization (if implemented), provide customer support, and for internal analytics purposes. These identifiers are not directly linked to your real-world identity.
- Purchase History:
- When you make a one-time in-app purchase to unlock WaterBit Pro features, we receive information about this transaction (e.g., the product ID of the Pro version, the transaction ID) from Apple. We use this to verify your Pro status and provide access to the enhanced features.
- Usage Data:
- Product Interaction: We collect information about how you interact with the App, such as features used, screens viewed, and overall engagement. This helps us understand how the App is being used and identify areas for improvement.
- Performance Data: We collect anonymous data about the App's performance, such as crash logs and error reports. This helps us identify and fix bugs and improve the App's stability.
- Contact Information (if you provide it):
- If you contact our customer support, you may provide your email address or other contact details so we can respond to your inquiries.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- App Functionality: To provide, operate, and maintain the core features of WaterBit, including:
- Recording and displaying your water intake entries.
- Syncing water intake data with Apple Health (with your consent).
- Unlocking and managing access to WaterBit Pro features after a purchase.
- Ensuring the App operates correctly and reliably.
- Analytics: To understand how users interact with WaterBit, measure the effectiveness of our features, and identify trends in usage. This helps us make informed decisions about product development and improvements. We use aggregated and anonymized data where possible for these purposes.
- Product Personalization: To tailor your experience within the App, such as displaying personalized hydration summaries or insights based on your logged data.
- Customer Support: To respond to your inquiries, provide technical assistance, and resolve any issues you may encounter with the App.
- Fraud Prevention, Security, and Compliance: To detect and prevent fraudulent activities related to in-app purchases, protect the security of our services, and comply with legal obligations.
We will NEVER share your HealthKit data with third parties for advertising or data brokering purposes.
4. How We Share Your Information
We are committed to protecting your privacy and do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- With Your Consent: We will share your HealthKit data with Apple Health only with your explicit permission. You control what data is shared with HealthKit through the Apple Health app settings.
- Service Providers: We may share data with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting providers, analytics services (e.g., Firebase Analytics), and crash reporting services (e.g., Firebase Crashlytics). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes for which we provide it.
- Legal Compliance and Protection: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to (i) comply with a legal obligation, (ii) protect and defend our rights or property, (iii) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the App or the public, or (iv) protect against legal liability.
- Business Transfers: In the event that Mobile Kinetics, LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via a prominent notice on our website or through the App if such a transfer occurs and your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain your water intake data and associated identifiers for as long as you use the WaterBit App on your device. This data is primarily stored locally on your device. You can manage or delete your individual water entries directly within the App. If you delete the WaterBit App from your device, the locally stored data associated with the App will also be deleted.
HealthKit data, once written to the Apple Health app, is managed by Apple. Please refer to Apple's privacy policies for information on their data retention practices for HealthKit data.
Anonymous usage and crash data collected via third-party services may be retained for longer periods as determined by those service providers, typically for analytics and product improvement purposes. Please refer to their respective privacy policies for details.
We may retain certain information when required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, or maintaining records of purchases).
If WaterBit introduces account features in the future, our data retention policy for server-stored data will be updated accordingly, and you will be notified of these changes.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
7. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
You have certain rights regarding your personal information. These may include:
- Accessing and Correcting Your Data: You can typically view and edit your water intake data directly within the WaterBit app.
- HealthKit Permissions: You have full control over the health and fitness data you choose to share with WaterBit through Apple's Health app settings on your device. You can revoke permissions at any time.
- Data Deletion: You can delete individual water entries directly within the App. If you delete the WaterBit App from your device, the locally stored data associated with the App will also be deleted. To request deletion of any data that might be retained by our service providers (e.g., analytics data linked to your device ID), please contact us at waterbit@mobilekineticsllc.com.
- Opt-Out of Analytics: Most analytics services provide options to opt-out of data collection. Please refer to the privacy policies of any third-party analytics providers mentioned above for details on their opt-out mechanisms.
8. Children's Privacy
WaterBit is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under the age of 13, we will take steps to delete such information from our records as soon as possible.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
